Private Visit With Newborn RN

Private consults may be scheduled with a Newborn Registered Nurse.  This visit is a great time to discuss and learn privately about your newborn’s care.  Some suggested topics are:

  • Instruction in daily newborn care and bathing
  • Breastfeeding Education and Assessment
  • Dr. Karp’s Soothing & Swaddling Methods
  • Sleep, sleep, and sleep routines
  • Stimulating play and tummy time,

Your newborn RN will also discuss any of your particular questions or needs.   We realize your newborn concerns may change from week to week and we are here to support your transition into parenthood.

Contact Mother & Child to schedule your Newborn RN visit.

Newborn RN visits:

1. I feel embarrassed that I need help taking care of my own baby. Well, first of all, that is why we are here at Mother & Child..  Our sole purpose is to support and offer hands-on education to new families.  Most new families are given information as they are discharging from the hospital, tired and nervous.  “It’s OK to ask for help!”  and your are not alone, many families feel just the same.

2. How is this different from the overnight care service? A newborn nurse visit is a shorter visit and usually during the daytime.  Many families  have a specific/or several concerns that they would like to discuss or a technique they would like to learn, such as swaddling or how to give their baby their first bath. Families may choose to have a one-time visit or schedule follow-up visits.

3. Do you also assist with breastfeeding?  Yes , we do, we will be glad to meet, asses and discuss breastfeeding issues. If outside assistance is needed, we work with IBCLC’s.

4. Do the newborn RN’s ever stay for overnight care? We would need to discuss your child’s particular needs and the necessity for a newborn RN.

5. If you have newborn RN’s, does this mean you also care for children with medical needs such as feeding tubes or Oxygen and assessment equipment? Yes, on occasion we can schedule a newborn RN for overnight medical care.  Your medical insurance program does not usually cover this fee.
